Every purchase of this rashguard supports the call to action for Lāhainā, Maui, and Hawai'i - 100% of profits will be donated to @chefhuihi to help feed displaced families. We are committed to Lāhainā and its healing.

In 1893, Eleanor Kekoaohiwaikalani Wright Prendergast, wrote the Hawaiian patriotic song, “Kaulana Nā Pua” (Famous Are The Flowers), for members of the Royal Hawaiian Band, in protest of the overthrown queen, Liliʻuokalani, and the Hawaiian Kingdom. Throughout the years, this song has stood as the ‘calling to action’ for Lāhui (The Hawaiian people) to activate. Just as in those days, codified energy focused on tragedy and triumph through the words of this mele (song, anthem, and/or chant). The kāhea (to call, cry out, invoke, greet, and/or name) was heard, and instilled inspiration.

The reference below, from the second paukū (section, stanza, and/or verse), highlights this kāhea:

Pane mai Hawaiʻi moku o Keawe
Kōkua nā Hono aʻo Piʻilani
Kākoʻo mai Kauaʻi o Mano
Paʻapū me ke one Kākuhihewa

Hawaiʻi, land of Keawe answers
The bays of Piʻilani help
Kauaʻi of Mano lends support
All are united by the sands of Kākuhihewa

We are proud to be from this place; proud of our community and resolve!

Mahalo to everyone around the world who also heard the kāhea!

Me ke aloha
